Planning and implementation of a new distribution center with more than 60,000 m² logistics space (floor space) for handling capacity of over 4,000 m³ per day.
The result was a high-bay warehouse with more than 23,000 palette locations built as a narrow-aisle warehouse 21.5 m high. The back-up warehouse primarily supplies the shuttle warehouse with 64,000 carton and bin storage locations, but also provides inventory for single item commissioning in the manual palette and shelving rack commissioning warehouse. All processes in the new Komus warehouse are planned and controlled by a newly developed inventory management system. The challenge of this extensive concept was the multi-channel handling, which needed to allow processing of large quantity orders of whole palettes and whole cartons as well as small quantity orders of mixed cartons.
